A core belief at C-PAN is that in order to promote the broad adoption of data science applications, as well as the ethical use of those applications, it takes a community of interdisciplinary researchers. To meet this need, C-PAN created multiple programs for faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students at SIUE. If you would like to join our team, please feel free to submit an application to any of the programs below!
Faculty Fellows
The Faculty Fellows program is designed to pair faculty researchers with opportunities in data research. Ranging from machine learning to program evaluation in nature, we write positions for Faculty Fellows into almost all of our grants and external projects. To be eligible for the Faculty Fellows program, applicants must be employed at SIUE. Both tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty are encouraged to apply. The currently available Faculty Fellow positions are listed below. Most Faculty Fellows positions come with 2-4 weeks of summer salary, depending on the project. You may also complete the application if you have a skill set and would like to be considered for a position in the future, just indicate FUTURE when asked for which position you are applying. Program Evaluator - JTED 1 - Qualitative Analysis
C-PAN assists the Job Training and Economic Development (JTED) Program by performing third-party evaluation services. The selected program evaluator will perform collection and analysis of qualitative data through interviews and focus groups, will summarize the outcomes of the analyses, and will compile program evaluation reports.
Program Evaluator - JTED 2 - Mixed Methods Analysis
C-PAN assists the Job Training and Economic Development (JTED) Program by performing third-party evaluation services. The selected program evaluator will perform collection and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data through interviews, focus groups, and metrics provided by the Illinois DCEO. The selected evaluator will also be responsible for summarizing the outcomes of the analyses and will help compile program evaluation reports.
Faculty Affiliates
The Faculty Affiliates program is designed to concurrently (1) train the next generation of data scientists and (2) allow faculty who are interested in engaging with C-PAN the flexibility they need to pursue their own data-driven research interests. Faculty Affiliates are paired with a Data Science Intern (DSI) student who receives mentorship from the Faculty Affiliate in an area of data-driven research. Students receive course credit or co-op credit, depending on their major and interests. Although Faulty Affiliate positions are typically unpaid, faculty and their students will have access to C-PAN staff and computing resources. Both tenure track and non-tenure track faculty are encouraged to apply. Click here to apply.
C-PAN Ambassador Program
The C-PAN Ambassador Program was created in 2023 in response to the growing need for access to data analysts at SIUE. Ambassadors serve their home college/school and department by sharing their expertise with their colleagues. Ambassadors have open office hours and may also schedule times to meet with researchers to analyze experimental data, thereby providing the research community at SIUE with access to free data and statistical consulting. Ambassadors also host multiple workshops throughout the year, sharing data tools and potential applications within their respective discipline. Faculty and staff are eligible to apply. Click here to apply.
Data Science Interns
Are you a graduate or undergraduate student who is interested in data science? Are you interested in working with a faculty member to gain experience working with multiple data science skills? Then the Data Science Interns (DSI) program may be for you! We pair our DSI students with potential faculty mentors based on shared interests. These are typically unpaid positions, but they do come with the benefit of either course credit or co-op credit, depending on your major. If interested, please click here to apply.
Graduate Assistantships
Graduate assistantships are posted based on current grant and project needs. All current assistantships can be found here.
