Experiential Learning in Applied Statistics Fellows
Every industry is becoming progressively more data-driven. As a result, there is an increasing need for statisticians and data analysts across all sectors. However, traditional statistical training often does not prepare students to be incorporated into multidisciplinary teams of scientists. This dually immersive program seeks to concurrently train students in applied statistics and hands-on research in a greenhouse, laboratory, or field setting.
CC* Compute: SIUE Campus Cluster
To meet the needs of a growing digital educational and research environment at SIUE, the establishment of a new campus cluster was led by campus Information and Technology Services’ Dan Chace with collaboration from the Center for Predictive Analytics. In addition to securing a campus cluster for SIUE’s faculty and students, this cluster will also be available for SIUE collaborators and the St. Louis community through an application process (this is brand new, so not yet!). There will also be workshops hosted by ITS and C-PAN to help individuals make use of this new server.

MEG Models: A Holistic Systems-Based Modeling Technique for Improved Agricultural Production System Performance and Reduced Postharvest Loss
Improving crop performance and reducing post-harvest loss is a complex task and requires consideration of genetic, environmental, and metabolic factors. With advances in computing power, models need not only be limited to only one of these factors. This project seeks to capitalize on advances in computational power to develop complex machine learning models that enable us to holistically model our crop production systems and minimize crop loss.
SL-CN: Science of Nature-based Learning Collaborative Research Network
We also help out on other people’s grants as statistical consultants! Talk about a cool and complex dataset, these folks had their work cut out for them...and it resulted in an awesome project about the effectiveness of outdoor settings for scientific learning.
Crossing the Digital Divide
Data and technology are constantly becoming ingrained in every facet of the workforce. However, curricular topics such as data science, geospatial software, and remote sensing have traditionally only been taught as upper level courses at four-year institutions. This lack of access to curriculum has created a digital divide in our workforce, placing both the emerging technical workforce and the current workforce at a significant disadvantage. The overall goal of this program is to remove barriers and create multiple pathways into the data science and geospatial workforce sectors through freely accessible online curriculum, workshops, and alternative credentialing opportunities.
CRSS / CPRS Program Evaluation
The CRSS and CPRS Program is a new program offered by a group of amazing faculty at SIUE and external collaborators. In support of this program, C-PAN performs the program evaluation and helps compile reports that support the continuous improvement of the program.

Broadband READY
The Broadband Regional Engagement for Adoption and Digital Equity (READY) program is supported by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The goal of these grants is to empower regions to explore opportunities for equitable advances in the areas of broadband access, adoption, and utilization. As part of this work, C-PAN will help provide a comprehensive assessment of the internet resources in many of the underserved communities in the St. Louis Metro East.
Southwest IL Property Tax Study and Dashboard
Funded by the REALTOR's Association of Southwestern Illinois, this project seeks to understand how property taxes are related to other indicators of community's economic health.
SIU System Strategic Plan and KPI Monitoring
Starting in 2022, C-PAN will be working with the entire SIU System to monitor the SIU System Strategic Plan and define associated key performance indicators (KPIs) that will help inform whether progress is being made toward System-wide strategic goals.
Community Health and Well-Being Dashboard
The health and well-being of our citizens is imperative to the success of our communities. And yet, finding the data that helps our counties monitor key metrics related to health and well-being can be a challenging exercise. In an effort to help centralize data related to the health of our communities, we have compiled interactive dashboards with data pertaining to substance abuse, mental health, and social indicators.
