Day Two of the SIU School of Dental Medicine's Spring Alumni Weekend
- Course Presented (In Person or via Zoom) by Dr. Howard Cooper
- Registration will open at 7:45 a.m.
- Lecture will begin at 8:00 a.m.
- In Person in Hoag Hall (Building 283) on the Alton Campus
Course Objectives: After attending the course, the student should:
- Understand the history of Forensic Odontology (Dentistry).
- Understand the methods used to identify deceased individuals when visual identification is not possible
- Understand why dental evidence is different from other identification modalities.
- Understand the role of an Odontologist in both the Medical Examiner's Office and in Mass Disasters
- Understand the current role of bitemarks.
- Understand how to aid Law Enforcement in victim identification.
- Understand why our record keeping makes a difference in identification.
- Understand what is considered a Mass Disaster and why.
- Understand the role of the Federal DMORT team
