Welcome to the Department of Psychology!
The Department of Psychology’s undergraduate and graduate programs provide students with foundational knowledge in topics such as human behavior, learning, cognition, group dynamics, mental health and research methods. Courses taught by our award-winning faculty prepare students to pursue a variety of public and private sector careers in settings such as clinics, schools, corporations, nonprofits and consulting firms.
Students enjoy exceptional access to faculty both within and beyond the classroom. In addition to working as a research assistant in a faculty member’s lab, undergraduates may apply to conduct their own research as a member of the Psychology Honors Academy. Our robust field study program links students to real-world settings that allow them to apply classroom learning and gain practical, hands-on experience. Graduate programs in clinical, clinical child, school and industrial/organizational psychology are highly regarded throughout the St. Louis region and beyond. Finally, our Psychology Club is a vibrant social organization open to everyone with an interest in the discipline. It’s an exciting time to be a member of the psychology family at SIUE!
