Posted April 18, 2025
On March 27, 2025, IE Junior Sho Asa (leftmost in the photo) traveled to the Colorado School of Mines for a 3-day conference hosted by the National Organization for Business and Engineering (NOBE).
NOBE is an organization dedicated to the professional development of collegiate engineering majors interested in business and vice-versa. Each year, a NOBE chapter hosts the national conference, a chance for students from across the US and beyond to gather and learn from each other and industry experts. Over the course of the 3 days, students participated in events such as industry panels, team-building activities, and a case competition partnering with multidisciplinary businesses. Additionally, multiple industry experts presented on their own experiences at the intersection between business and engineering.
Sho represented SIUE well at the event, earning the Case Competition Excellence Award for his outstanding contributions to his team. His group also won a mock skyscraper building competition. The current IE Junior class of 2026 is working on bringing an official NOBE chapter to SIUE.
