Meeting ADA requirements is a critical part of helping students succeed on campus and online, but "making a course accessible" can seem like a daunting task when you are starting from scratch. This workshop is meant to help faculty build online and web-assisted learning environments that support students of all abilities. We will talk about web accessibility standards and how they apply to online learning environments. We will look at course material from a variety of student perspectives and then, using principles of Universal Design for Learning, we will redesign elements to better meet their needs. We will even take Microsoft's Accessibility Checker for a test run and share some additional tools for accessible design. Topics covered: * Universal Design for Learning * Web accessibility standards |
