Description:

Are you struggling with getting all students engaged in deep discussion about the readings for your course?  This workshop will focus on using text-based protocols for engaging students in assigned readings and promoting classroom discussions. There are many benefits to using text-based protocols to enhance your teaching.  Protocols provide a way to engage all students in classroom discussions by fostering equity of voice.   Additionally, protocols can help students construct meaning, clarify, and expand thinking about a text or document.  Finally, text-based protocols can help promote skills for civil discourse by teaching students to accurately and thoughtfully express their understanding while also learning to listen deeply.  Participants will leave with tools they can implement in their courses immediately.
