One in five Americans suffers from chronic loneliness. How did we become so alienated? Why is our sense of belonging so undermined? What if there were a set of science-backed techniques for navigating modern social life that could help us overcome our differences, create empathy, and forge lasting connections even across divides? (from Belonging book description)
As part of the S-STEM Watershed Scholars program, SIUE hosts the faculty learning community ELEVATE (Empowering Learning and Valuing Teaching) aimed at supporting, reflecting, and improving our inclusive mentoring practices. This semester the group will discuss the book Belonging: The Science of Creating Connection and Bridging Divides by Geoffrey L. Cohen and you are invited.
This discussion will be limited to fifteen participants committed to reading and attending the three Zoom discussions.
