Description: Community-Oriented Digital Engagement Scholars (CODES) is an award-winning alternative general education program that aligns with all majors at SIUE. CODE Scholars take their education beyond the walls of the classroom and into the St. Louis region. CODE Scholars, who are among the first in their families to attend college, Pell-eligible, or historically underrepresented in the major, earn a full-tuition scholarship for their participation in the program. They also benefit from a unique undergraduate experience, including:
- Conducting collaborative research that mimics the dynamics of innovative working environments
- Small class sizes and a tight-knit learning community that help students acclimate to life on campus
- Curriculum that represents the diverse backgrounds of students in the program
- Community partnerships that involve hands-on learning in an applied setting
- The development of data visualization and digital storytelling skills to reach audiences beyond SIUE
CODES offers faculty innovative teaching experiences and learning communities. If you are curious about the program or would like to learn more about teaching for CODES, please attend this one-hour conversation on September 18 at noon, and bring your lunch!
