Leveling Up as Teacher-Scholar: Practical Strategies to Bring Your Expertise into the Classroom Workshop
When: Friday, October 24th, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Modality: In-Person.
Where: Center for Faculty Development and Innovation, Lovejoy Library (2nd Floor) 2030.
Facilitator: Brittany Peterson.
Description: This session explores how faculty across disciplines can meaningfully integrate their research into teaching using the teacher-scholar model as a guiding framework. Rather than viewing research and teaching as separate responsibilities, we will discuss intentional integration of scholarship in the classroom and why doing so creates better opportunities and outcomes for our students. Workshop participants are introduced to practical strategies for embedding scholarly inquiry into traditional classroom settings. These include using real-world data, engaging with primary sources, and designing course-based research experiences that contribute to broader academic conversations. The session will leave faculty with tangible, low input strategies for intentional integration of scholarship in teaching.
