• Must be admitted to a Master’s program at SIUE and must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per academic term;
• Must be available to work between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work accurately with attention to detail;
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve objectives;
• Interest in enhancing the discoverability of Lovejoy Library resources, especially LGBTQ+ resources;
• Able to work independently as well as on a team
• Must be available to begin work/training no later than September 6, 2025
• Assist in other LIS departments as needed
• Other duties as assigned
Position: Cataloging & Metadata Graduate Assistant
Workdays/times: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
This position reports to the Cataloging and Metadata Librarian. The individual will copy catalog print materials using OCLC Connexion and the Library’s Integrated Library System, Ex Libris Alma. Subject analysis of LGBTQ+ materials and the application of LGBTQ+ terminology to improve the description and discoverability of LGBTQ+ library resources will be prioritized. This position will also involve the physical processing of print materials, operations related to acquisitions, assisting with projects, and performing other duties as assigned.
• Assist in identifying existing Library of Congress subject headings and classification number ranges that could be useful in identifying LGBTQ+ materials for additional subject analysis using the Homosaurus linked data vocabulary
• Assist in developing policies, procedures, and training documentation to support the use of Homosaurus terms in the Lovejoy Library catalog
• Assist with the copy cataloging of other format-specific resources or catalog maintenance projects
• Other duties as assigned
