Qualifications

• Must be prepared to begin work/training starting August 18, 2025

• Must be available during morning and afternoon hours during the semester

• Must be flexible with scheduling • Must have a reliable way into work

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Interest in teaching with technology

• Interest or experience in teaching information literacy

• Able to work independently as well as on a team

Position Description

Position: Lovejoy Library Teaching Assistant

Workdays/times: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 5:00pm; varies & aligns with library building hours

Library & Information Services seeks a highly motivated and dependable graduate student to serve as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for its Information Literacy Program. This position supports the library’s goal to foster critical thinking and research skills through teaching classes and workshops. This TA will assist the Information Literacy Librarian in planning, delivering, and assessing information literacy sessions for undergraduate students in the First-Year Writing Program as well as other first-year courses in alternative general education programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the delivery of information literacy instruction, both in-person and online.

• Support the development of instructional materials such as research guides, handouts, and tutorials.

• Collaborate with librarians and campus faculty to tailor lesson plans to specific course needs and learning outcomes

• Provide one-on-one or small group research assistance to students.

• Contribute to the assessment of instruction through surveys, data collection, and analysis.

• Participate in team meetings and training related to information literacy pedagogy and academic librarianship.

• Uphold the values of equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning.

• Assist in other LIS departments as needed

• Other duties as assigned
