Position Description

Health Promotions and Outreach Education are a priority for Student Affairs and the Departments of Health and Counseling Services, in particular. This area of Student Affairs focuses on health-related programs, education, and intervention geared toward the holistic wellness of SIUE students. Through the services provided by this position, graduate assistants can expect to build skills in event planning, facilitating education programs, critical thinking, and leadership. Health Promotions aims to enhance the health and wellness of SIUE students through programming and outreach.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist the Health Promotions and Outreach Specialist with the recruitment, training, coordination, and ongoing support of student Peer Educators
• Assist the Health Promotions and Outreach Specialist in developing and implementing health education and promotion programs to include topics like alcohol, drugs, stress management, self-care, sexual health, suicide prevention, etc.
• Provide wellness workshops and presentations to the campus community
• Assist in maintaining a calendar of health promotions events
• Developing/marketing of health-related messaging that encourages help-seeking behavior
• Design and develop marketing of health and wellness initiatives
• Maintain digital presence via Health Promotion’s official Instagram account
• Develop and deliver tabling opportunities
• Create a capstone Health Promotion project for Health and Counseling Services
