Qualifications

Must pass drug screen and criminal background
checks (this position requires working with
minors)
Must have reliable transportation
Enjoys working with teens
Experience working (paid or volunteer) with youth
at school-based programs, recreation centers,
camps, and/or social service agencies

Position Description

SIUE TRIO Upward Bound Scholars Academy at
Collinsville HS is looking for graduate students
who want to be a mentor to high school students.
Responsibilities:
Conduct individual advising sessions with teens
Provide tutoring/homework assistance during
school hours and after school
Prepare lesson plans and facilitate college prep
and career readiness workshops
Co-teach high school level academic classes and
electives/clubs
Track program participation and input advising

Administer assessment tools
Administrative duties
Chaperone field trips when needed
During the academic year, services are provided
at Collinsville High School during school hours
(9am-3pm) and after school Tuesdays and
Thursdays (3pm-4pm).
During the summer, services are provided at
SIU Edwardsville campus from mid-May through
mid-July (7:30am-4:30pm).
Stipend will be based on the contract % the
student is hired for
