Current Nursing license required (Need IL but can be in process of getting if you already have another nursing license). Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours of graduate coursework and in good academic standing. Comfort/confidence in teaching basic nursing concepts (instruction on specific topics needed is provided). Flexible schedule- The 20 hours will typically be divided between two days per week (occasionally three) based on the needs of the lab, usually scheduled between the hours of 6:30 am and 6:30 pm. Willingness to be creative and adapt to different simulation lab needs for both undergraduate and graduate student support. Comfort with working in a team environment.
The School of Nursing Simulation Laboratory for Health Services is current accepting applications for graduate Teaching Assistant positions for Spring 2025. This position is in person only, and 20 hours per week. You will receive a monthly salary and tuition coverage. This experience also provides excellent evidence of teaching and mentoring. Teaching Assistants support student learning and safety in laboratory experiences related to the Foundations in Nursing course, teaching new skills and procedures in preparation for clinical experiences. Teaching Assistants also provide set-up, tear-down and cleaning and organization of materials related to lab experiences. Teaching Assistants provide support and teaching to students from clinical courses attending simulation experiences in the lab, helping students in using simulators, task trainers and other equipment and technology. During these experiences they also supervise, explain, utilize Socratic questioning and provide teaching support along with the instructor of record.
