Research Assistantship (2868-2026)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Art History, Studio Art, History, Anthropology or Museum Studies or a combination thereof. Applicants MUST currently be enrolled in a masters degree in one of the following graduate disciplines at SIUE: History, Museum Studies, Cultural Heritage & Resource Management, Public Administration & Policy Analysis, or Art & Design. Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6, but no more than 12 credit hours per academic term for fall and spring. Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours per academic term for summer. Applicants must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average.

Position Description

The candidate will participate in the record keeping, documentation, and inventory of museum objects, records, and archives in   relation to the Museum Collections Inventory Project.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Inspect and research collection objects from the museum's collections through a process of locus verification and data registration.

 • Verify record data, analyze, describe, and report on condition of researched objects.

• Perform digital photo documentation of researched objects.

• Physically tag, number, and rehouse researched objects as needed using approved methods.

• Research undocumented objects as needed using established museum procedures.
