REQUIRED:
Must be currently enrolled in an SIUE graduate program in good standing, eligible for a Graduate Assistantship. Must have strong writing skills and be comfortable creating content for social media and email. Must be organized and reliable, with the ability to manage multiple small projects at one time. Must be comfortable interfacing with faculty, students, and community members professionally. Must have highly dependable transportation to/from The Wedge - work will be completed in-person at The Wedge Innovation Center, 620 East Broadway, Alton, IL.
PREFERRED:
Coursework or experience in marketing, communications, business, or a related field. Familiarity with Canva, basic graphic design, or content scheduling tools. Interest in innovation, entrepreneurship, or economic development.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Wedge Innovation Center, powered by SIUE, is seeking a Graduate Assistant to support digital marketing and SIUE-affiliated programming. This role is designed for a current SIUE graduate student who wants hands-on experience in marketing execution, event support, and university-community partnership work inside a startup and growing innovation hub. You will work closely with the CEO and Wedge Staff to extend the Wedge's marketing reach and help bring SIUE faculty, students, and programming into the space as well as marketing and advertising it across the community and region. This is not an accounting or financial role — your focus is entirely on content, communication, and program support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Digital Marketing
• Create and schedule content for the Wedge's social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
• Draft email newsletter content and assist with list segmentation and send scheduling
• Update website content and event listings; support basic on-page SEO improvements
• Design simple graphics and flyers for events, programming, and sponsor recognition using Canva or similar tools
• Help develop marketing campaigns, track and report on marketing engagement metrics (social reach, email opens, site traffic)
• Photograph and document events and daily activity at the Wedge for use in marketing content SIUE Programming Support
• Serve as a day-to-day liaison between the Wedge and SIUE faculty, departments, and student organizations
• Help coordinate logistics for SIUE-affiliated workshops, speaker sessions, and faculty-co-delivered programming
• Promote SIUE programming to students and the broader Riverbend community through Wedge marketing channels
• Support student engagement initiatives that connect SIUE coursework, capstones, or research to the Wedge
• Track attendance, impact and gather feedback for SIUE-affiliated events to inform future programming General Support
• Assist the Wedge Staff with day-to-day marketing and event administrative tasks
• Help maintain an organized content calendar across marketing and SIUE programming
