The 2026-2027 returning Resident Assistant application opens Friday, December 12, 2025. The deadline to apply is Monday, January 26 at noon.
Applications are located in the Housing Portal under Employment Application.
RA Qualifications
- Turn in a completed application by the appropriate deadline: Friday, December 5, 2025, at noon. for new applicants and
Monday, January 26 at noon for returning applicants
- Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA by the time you assume the position (RAs are required to maintain a 2.5 GPA).
- Cannot graduate before May 2026.
- Cannot be involved with a full-time internship/co-op, student teaching, or enrolled in the School of Pharmacy program during the 2026-2027 academic year.
- Have lived in University Housing for at least one full semester by the time you would begin as an RA (summer is counted as a semester). Priority will be given to candidates who have lived in University Housing for at least two full semesters before the start date
- Be in good financial, academic, and behavioral conduct standing with the University.
RA Application Process
- Candidates must apply both on the Housing Portal and Cougar Jobline to be eligible for the position.
- Online Application deadline:
- Friday, December 5, 2025, at noon for new.

Monday, January 26 at noon for returning.
- RA Candidate Workshops: January 19-February 6, 2026
- Candidates will be expected to attend a workshop each week for three weeks.
- The workshops will allow Housing staff to see candidates in scenarios they may encounter in the RA role.
- RA Candidate Individual Interview: February 9-13, 2026
- Candidates will participate in an interview with a few Housing staff members to answer questions about the RA role.

- One session for each Community. November 3-7, 2025, in each individual community. Watch for publicity in your community if interested in this session.
2026 – 2027 RA Important Dates
- Attend a 2-hour Orientation Meeting on April 24, 2026 - if hired
- Attend Fall RA Training 2 weeks before the start of the Fall semester
- Attend a 2-hour RA leadership course on Thursday or Friday afternoons, non-credit, no cost
- Attend January RA Training 1 – 2 weeks before the start of the Spring semester
