Housing Application
Thank you for your interest in applying for Housing at SIUE! By clicking the Apply Now button, you will be taken to MyHousing, the one-stop shop for University Housing. You will need to use your e-ID and password to log in to MyHousing. MyHousing will allow you to:
- Apply for University Housing
- Request an exemption from the residency requirement
- View your housing assignment (once available)
- Submit University Housing forms such as Cancellation Request, Break Request, Early Arrival Request, Late Departure Request, and more
- Sign up for a Move-In Timeslot

SIUE Housing is continuing to accept housing applications, but we can no longer guarantee space by the first day of classes for upperclass students applying for upperclass housing spaces (Cougar Village Apartments and Evergreen Hall). Applications will be processed and assignments will be made based on the date received order and availability.
Fall 2024-Spring 2025 Housing Application Information
When to Apply
New students are able to apply for SIUE Housing once they have been admitted to SIUE and have activated their e-ID and password. To activate your e-ID, please visit this help page. Applications are accepted through the summer and the active term. Applying by the preferred date will give students the best chances of receiving their top housing preferences.
How to Apply
Students can submit their application online through MyHousing. As you work through your application, you can save your progress and revisit any time. A $125 application payment is required to submit your application. $50 is a non-refundable housing application fee and $75 is the housing damage deposit.
Once logged into MyHousing, click the Apply for Housing button and follow the steps through the application. The housing application can be completed within 15 minutes or less.
Roommates
After the housing application is submitted, you will be able to search for other students who have submitted their housing application. The roommate group pages allow you to:
- Add a specific person as a roommate (by using their system-generated screen name)
- Search for a potential roommate by filtering the personal inventory questions
- Search for a potential roommate through system-generated recommendations
Because students can only view other students who have completed their housing applications, it is important to return often to see other students who have applied. University Housing recommends students begin searching in April to maximize their potential roommate matches.
Roommate groups can be formed for either roommates (2 students in a group who would likely share a room together) or for suites/apartments (4-person max for first-year areas/6-person max for Evergreen Hall).
The roommate group pages will lock on June 10 and assignments will start to be finalized.
Room Assignment Process
Determining Room Assignments
SIUE Housing determines room assignments based on the date of receipt, room and Living Learning Community (LLC) preferences, and mutual request for roommate pairing. Returning residents who complete the Reservation Process are assigned first and then all other students are assigned in application date-received order.
Preferences
If a student’s preference (LLC or room type) is not available at the time the assignment is made, the student will receive a shared bedroom space. High-demand spaces like Evergreen Hall, deluxe apartments, deluxe privates, deluxe suites, and Cougar Village Private Bedrooms are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Accommodations
SIUE Housing is committed to meeting the needs of all students with a documented medical, physical, or psychological need, as it relates to both the American with Disabilities Act and Fair Housing Act. Students with these types of needs should register with ACCESS. Once registered, ACCESS will connect with our office on an appropriate housing accommodation.
Non-Discrimination Policy
SIUE Housing makes all assignments without regard to race, sexual orientation, or national origin and will not accept requests for changes of assignments based on these factors.
Receiving Your Room Assignment
Students will begin receiving their housing assignments in July and continue throughout the summer. Housing assignments are made in date-received order. Students will receive an email to their SIUE and personal email addresses on file as well as a postcard to their listed home address. Students will need to log into MyHousing to view their housing assignment and roommate information.
Students are not able to make changes to their housing assignment. The space change process will open the 3rd week of the semester. This allows University Housing to account for all available spaces.
Making Changes to Your Application
Changes can be made to your housing application through June 10. To make a change to your application, please email housing@siue.edu from your SIUE email account. Make sure to include your ID (800) number and the changes that you would like to make. Example changes could include room preferences, personal inventory answers, contact information, and more.
Cancelling a Housing Application
Students should log in to MyHousing and click Housing Forms then University Housing Cancellation Form to request to cancel their housing. Students who cancel prior to June 1 (December 1 for Spring-Only) will receive their housing deposit as a credit to their student account. Students who cancel before August 1 (January 1 for Spring-Only) will forfeit their deposit ($75) and receive a $200 cancellation charge.
Cancellations received after August 1 (January 1 for Spring-Only) will need to meet one of the eight approved reasons to cancel. The eight approved reasons to cancel are:
- Graduation
- Withdrawal from SIUE
- Academic Suspension
- Medical Accommodation
- Death in the Immediate Family
- Marriage
