Research
The SIUE School of Nursing encourages and supports faculty research, and as a result, faculty are actively engaged in programs of research and many are recognized nationally and internationally for their research and scholarship. Research efforts have resulted in the dissemination of findings at regional, national, and international professional presentations and publications of textbooks, textbook chapters, and referred journal articles.
Since 2012, the School of Nursing faculty have been involved in research and program grant funding totaling nearly $4.5 million. Funding support for faculty research has included prestigious sources such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – Health Resources and Services Administration, National Institutes of Health, Illinois Board of Higher Education, Illinois Department of Public Health, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Archdiocese of St. Louis, and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
SIUE School of Nursing (SON) faculty work as team leaders and members on numerous interprofessional collaborative groups involving individuals from others universities, health professionals in various healthcare settings, and SIUE faculty from a variety of disciplines. Topics of interest include:

- Sexual Differentiation
- Care of Veterans
- Suicide Prevention
Additional topics include health literacy, graduate student wellness and performance, research participation of vulnerable populations, driving retirement for the elderly, nursing education, childhood asthma, and simulation in education.
