Riley (they/them) joined the School of Pharmacy as Academic Advisor II in October 2024 and advises Pharm.D. students from Professional Years 1-3. Their previous roles included serving as a student ambassador, a programming and project management internship, an admissions application processor, a financial aid services administrator, and an academic advisor for a variety of programs. Riley also engages in the Queer Faculty & Staff Association (SIUE); the Coalition for Nonreligious, Ethnoreligious Minority, Religious Minority, and Allied Staff, Faculty, & Alums (NER) (SIUE); and the Gender Equity & Support Society based in Alton, Illinois.
Riley holds a B.A. in Humanistic Studies: Western Cultures with minors in Spanish Language and Human Development from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (2016), a B.A. in Anthropology from Western Illinois University (2024), and a M.S. in Administrative Leadership for Higher Education Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2019). They are currently pursuing a B.A. in Integrative Studies, exploring Sociology and Philosophy, right here at SIUE. They are a life-long learner, enjoy interdisciplinary work, and they have plans to earn an EdD or PhD in the future.
In their personal life, Riley enjoys spending time with friends, family, and their pets (cats and dogs). Their service dog, Stella, accompanies them almost everywhere they go and is the light of their life. Riley adores animals and has rescued each one in their pack. Riley also enjoys fishing, kayaking, video games, traveling, and all manner of creative activities (writing, music, movies, crochet, coloring, LEGOs- the list goes on).
Riley is passionate about supporting and advocating for students, seeks to meet them where they're at, and loves chat about anything and everything. They are LGBTQIA+ and hope to provide all humans who enter their space with an accountable, safe, nonjudgmental space in which to grow.
