Summer Training Opportunities
Cadets are offered opportunities during the summer to continue Army training. Some of these opportunities include attending Army Schools such as Airborne or Air Assault. Others provide development opportunities at the basic level (freshman/sophomore), advanced level (junior), or even internships.
Adventure Training
Select Cadets in ROTC programs are chosen to attend Cadet Advanced Individual Training during the summer months. This training can include slots for Airborne, Air Assault, Mountain/Northern Warfare, Sapper, and the Combat Diver Qualification Course, among others, as well as United States Military Academy (USMA) Cadet Field Training (CFT).
Advanced Camp
Advanced Camp occurs between the junior and senior year of the ROTC program. Advanced camp is designed to assess cadets in leadership tasks. Cadets are assessed across the Army’s Leadership Attributes and Competencies. Cadets also are evaluated in fitness, land navigation, marksmanship, obstacle courses, first aid, and other basic tasks important for a soldier.

Basic Camp
Basic Camp occurs before the junior year of the ROTC program. Basic Camp develops leadership skills, trains them on individual Army tasks and reinforces Warrior Ethos and the Army Values. Basic Camp is an opportunity for students who want to join ROTC but missed the basic courses (MSC 101/102 and MSC 201/202); it covers the material that progression cadets received during those two years of courses.

Internships
Nurse Summer Training
Nursing students who are also Army ROTC cadets have an opportunity for a unique summer nursing experience. The paid, four-week Nurse Summer Training Program assigns cadets to Army hospitals throughout the U.S. and Germany.
The nursing program introduces cadets to the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) and to the roles and responsibilities of an Army Nurse Corps officer. Under the supervision of an experienced Army Nurse Corps officer, cadets obtain hands-on experience. Training opportunities include one-on-one clinical experience, which enables cadets to hone their clinical skills, develop problem-solving techniques and become comfortable with developing professional skills as a member of the U.S. Army Healthcare Team.

STEM
Cadets can apply for internships as part of Cadet Command’s Cadet Troop Leader Training Internships program. These internships range from three to eight weeks and provide cadets with an opportunity to exercise language, technical or research skills.
