State Scholarship
SIUE Army ROTC offers state scholarships that will pay for tuition, student welfare and activity fees. Scholarships are awarded on a semester basis, and there is no obligation to commit to the military until you contract (normally your junior year). Download the application here [pdf].
State Qualifications
- Must be an Illinois resident
- Must be enrolled at a four-year Illinois state school
- Must have and maintain a cumulative and term GPA of 2.0 or higher on 4.0 scale or 3.0 on a 5.0 grading scale
- Must be a full-time student and enrolled in Army ROTC

Army (Federal) Scholarship
Whether you're a college-bound high school student or already attending a college or university, Army ROTC has scholarships available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student's merit and grades, not financial need. Army ROTC scholarships are valuable in many ways:
- Two-, three-, and four-year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree
- Scholarship amounts vary
- Additional allowances pay for books and fees
Scholarship Plans
The four-year college scholarship is for college freshmen in their first year of a four-year (or five-year for certain degrees) undergraduate plan. To qualify, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be between the ages of 17 and 26
- Have a high school GPA of at least 2.50
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Meet physical standards
- Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army Reserve or Army National Guard)
The three-year scholarship is available for students already enrolled with three academic years remaining. The two-year scholarship is available for those who have two academic years of college remaining. To qualify, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be between the ages of 17 and 26
- Have a college GPA of at least 2.50
- Meet physical standards
- Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard)

Simultaneous Membership Program
The Simultaneous Membership Program allows you to attend Army ROTC and serve in the U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard at the same time. It gives you an opportunity for additional training and experience. Cadets serve as officer trainees in the Reserve or National Guard while completing college. You can earn Reserve/Guard pay and benefits in addition to your Army ROTC allowances.
Illinois National Guard Benefits
- 100% tuition assistance (IL Guard Grant)
- Up to $50,000 student loan repayment
- GI Bill - $407 tax free per month while taking classes
- GI Bill Kicker - $350 tax free per month while taking classes
- E-5 drill pay - approximately $300 per month
- ROTC Stipend - $420 tax free per month
- Basic training and job training pay and experience
- Low-cost health and dental care
- Non-deployable while taking ROTC classes
- Military ID card and access to all military posts
Guaranteed Reserve Force Duty Scholarship
The Guaranteed Reserve Force Duty scholarship guarantees that you will remain in either the Army National Guard or the U.S. Army Reserve upon receipt of your commission. Dedicated United States Army Reserve Scholarship
The Dedicated U.S. Army Reserve scholarship guarantees that you will remain in the U.S. Army Reserve upon receipt of your commission. Dedicated Army National Guard Scholarship
The Dedicated Army National Guard scholarship guarantees that you will remain in the Army National Guard upon receipt of your commission. This is a three-year scholarship that pays up to $10,000 per year plus an additional $1,200 for book fees. All for only one weekend a month!

Army ROTC Nurse Program
If you're considering an undergraduate nursing degree, joining Army ROTC can enhance your leadership skills and critical-thinking abilities while providing financial support to help make your professional goals a reality.
Being a nurse in the Army provides you with opportunities not found in the civilian world. As an Army nurse and officer, you will have the respect of your peers and coworkers, as well as opportunities to train and serve in a variety of specialties.
Army ROTC and Undergraduate Nursing
Army ROTC can offer you unique nursing opportunities while receiving financial assistance for college. Nurse Summer Training Program
Army ROTC nurse cadets have an opportunity for a unique summer nursing experience. The paid, three-week Nurse Summer Training Program assigns cadets to Army hospitals throughout the U.S. and Germany.
The program introduces you to the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) and to the roles and responsibilities of an Army Nurse Corps officer. Under the supervision of an experienced Army Nurse Corps officer, you will obtain hands-on experience. Your one-on-one clinical experience will allow you to hone your clinical skills, develop your problem-solving techniques and become comfortable with developing your professional skills as a member of the U.S. Army Healthcare Team.
