Welcome to Prevention Education and Advocacy Center (PEACe)
At SIUE, we are committed to making sure students, staff and faculty have a safe space to learn about, discuss and report incidents of power-based violence, such as sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking. On PEACe’s site you will find:
- Options for disclosing what happened for survivors and allies
- Options to chat with professionals about this topic
- Ways to be involved at SIUE in the work to end power-based personal violence
- Information and resources on healthy relationships, sexuality, and masculinity
- Ways to learn about bystander intervention
PEACe is committed to maintaining a community in which students, faculty and staff can work and learn together in an atmosphere free of all forms of discrimination, including sexual and dating/domestic violence. Sexual and dating/domestic violence violate the dignity of the individual and the integrity of the University as an institution of higher learning, and thus, will not be tolerated at SIUE. It's on us to change the culture of SIUE to be intolerant of violence and supportive of healthy behaviors.
PEACe provides opportunities for students to become involved in the prevention of gender-based violence. PEACe works with graduate assistants, interns and student volunteers to educate other students, faculty, and staff on how to prevent power-based personal violence and on bystander intervention. Education and advocacy take place through peer education, programming and awareness events, guest speaking, and trainings. Students are the leaders in the work that PEACe does, and #ItsOnUs to end power-based personal violence!
