Dean Harlow
On-Air Host
Sat, 3pm - 7pm / Sun, 3pm - 6pm
Dean has been in the broadcasting world since his teen years...starting on-air with WZRD FM at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.
He also hosted evening jazz shows on NPR affiliates in Carbondale, Johnson City, TN and Toledo while working in advertising sales for commercial radio stations during the day. Plus, he learned more about radio as a sales/research consultant for Arbitron (now Nielsen Audio) in Chicago overseeing the Midwest for four years.
With his new found knowledge and experience, he bought and operated urban contemporary leaders WWWZ FM and WMGL FM in Charleston, SC for ten years, before landing in St. Louis as VP/Director of Sales with Emmis Communications (overseeing sales for KSHE, KPNT, KFTK, KIHT, Steve & DC radio network and a variety of other stations).
He later transitioned to TV ad sales as Regional VP with Charter/Spectrum before joining Nine PBS TV as VP/Director of Development.
Then in 2021 he returned to his original love…on-air sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm of jazz at 88.7 The Sound.
As a drummer/conga player, he loves live music whether watching/listening, jamming or as a member of his band…the music keeps him (and weekends on 88.7 FM The Sound) moving.
