Role of Students at WSIE
Aside from our role as your favorite radio station…and aside from our role as St. Louis’ home for great Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Blues and Easy R&B…we are a training ground for the next generation of professional broadcasters.WSIE fulfills a big part of our mission by affording the students of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville the unique opportunity to be involved in the daily operations of a major market 50,000-watt FM radio station. From on-air positions, to Social Media posts, to Grant Writing, to Sales and Marketing, our student volunteers receive real, on-the-job training that will prepare them for their career after graduation.
