Ryan Horvath
Printmaking
Ryan Horvath received his BFA in printmaking from Bradley University in Peoria, IL and continued his love affair with printmaking while studying for his Master of Fine Arts degree at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL. Ryan’s artwork is inspired by his love of nature. His childhood was filled with long hikes in the woods and through streams. The creatures dwelling in these spaces in many ways mystified him. This fascination with nature on both a grand and intimate scale has never left him. To this day, when Ryan is not in the studio at work he can often be found on long walks in the woods seeking out a connection with the natural world surrounding him. His artwork often focuses on overlooked and unnoticed elements found in nature: fallen leaves, broken seeds, decay, and sprouting buds. These elements signal the passage of time and serve as reminders of our connection to our surroundings and the forces shaping them – a connection that we often don’t acknowledge.
Currently, Ryan has established a studio in Edwardsville, IL where he continues exploring his fascination with printmaking. His work can be found in exhibitions and galleries both regionally and nationally.
