P. Gussie Klorer, PhD, ATR-BC, LCSW, LCPC is the former director and founder of the graduate Art Therapy Counseling program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She is author of Expressive Therapy with Troubled Children (Jason Aronson, 2000) and numerous other publications, and serves on the Editorial Board of Trauma and Loss: Research Interventions. Her private practice is specialized in work with severely abused and neglected children with attachment difficulties.

Experience:
1990-present: Director of Graduate Art Therapy Program, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
Responsible for program administration, including admissions, academic and practicum advising, and successful completion of Approval Status with the American Art Therapy Association (1992); Teach graduate level courses, chair mid-course reviews and thesis committees, supervise graduate students in clinical internships, advise Student Art Therapy Association, supervise publication of student art therapy association newsletter, write grants, serve on university committees.
1990-present: Private Practice in art therapy serving children, adolescents, and families present with the Art Therapy Center of St. Louis. Work with the Division of Family Services referred clients and private referrals. Duties include direct client contact, record keeping, documentation of session content, writing regular treatment reports, billing, and testifying in court on children's behalf in child abuse cases.
1982-90: Adjunct Treatment Coordinator at Evangelical Children's Home in St. Louis, MO. Created and supervised entire Adjunct Treatment Program, including art therapy, drama therapy, recreation therapy, summer program, and equestrian therapy. Designed and implemented Wilderness Stress Challenge Program. Supervised adjunct staff of five and summer staff of 12.
1980-81: Art Therapist. Designed first art therapy program at the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Institute in Washington, DC, a school for multiply handicapped children and adolescents.
