Dr. Sangsook Park

Education:
Sangsook Park received her Ed.D. and M.A. in Art Education from University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, her M.F.A. in Metals from University of Washington in Seattle, and her B.F.A. in Metals from Kookmin University, Seoul, South Korea. Prior to joining SIUE, she taught at SUNY New Paltz as an Assistant Professor.
Teaching:
Dr. Park has taught foundations of art education, elementary and secondary art education methods, curriculum and instruction, introduction to art, and several online graduate seminar courses. She has also been active in the supervision of student teachers over the past 10 years. Currently, Dr. Park teaches introduction to art education and art education methods courses for art education majors and elementary education majors.
Research:
Dr. Park's many years of serving as an art educator, both in the US and abroad has led to her to study the research field of the impact of culture on children's artistic development and learning. Her focus is on early childhood and elementary art education and the cross-cultural study of the field of art education. As an artist-teacher, she is also an accomplished Metalsmith, exhibiting her metal artwork nationally and internationally.
