Community Strings
Learn note-reading and concert pieces, prepare for solo and ensemble contests and school orchestra assignments, and play folk songs, hymns, or fiddle tunes.
Open to students ages 9 and up.
Adults are also welcome to sign up for private lessons through this program.
How many weeks? 15 weeks per semester. Fall semester is August-December, spring semester is January-May. The registration fee is paid once per academic year.
How long are lessons? 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
Where are lessons held? On the SIUE Campus, Dunham Hall, 2nd Floor
When is my lesson? Lesson times are arranged with your teacher.
What is the cost? There is a $20 annual registration fee, paid once per academic year. Tuition fees are:
- 30 minute lesson- $450 per semester
- 45 minute lesson- $675 per semester
- 60 minute lesson- $900 per semester
Current Community Strings students (who are registered for summer lessons) may register here before August 15. Prospective Community Strings students, please email us at suzukiprogram@siue.edu BEFORE registering to make sure we can match you to a teacher.
