Discover Theater and Dance at SIUE
The Department of Theater and Dance is a vibrant hub for makers, storytellers, and performers. With areas of specialization—Performance (Acting), Dance, Design & Technical Theater, Theater Education, and Musical Theatre (coming soon) —we empower students to combine rigorous training with bold creativity. Our community includes more than 85 majors and 50 minors who collaborate, innovate, and bring stories to life on stage and beyond.
Each year, we produce a dynamic season of performances, including:
-
Four Main Stage theater productions and Two dance concerts in Dunham Hall Theater and the intimate Metcalf Theater.
-
Student-led productions such as the Student Experimental Theater Organization, Black Theatre Workshop, Student Dance Concert, and 24 hour play festival.
-
The University Dance Company, which shares original choreography with schools, festivals, and conferences throughout the region.
Our season extends beyond campus:
-
Summer Theater showcases a community-based season of musicals and classic plays.
-
We also offer summer intensives, workshops, and camps for aspiring artists of all ages to train, explore, and create alongside our faculty and students.
-
Every September, we host SIUE Xfest, a nationally recognized festival of alternative theater and dance that brings professional artists from across the country to campus for performances and master classes.
Whether you dream of performing, choreographing, designing, teaching, or creating entirely new forms of art, SIUE Theater and Dance offers the training, opportunities, and community to launch your career in the performing arts.
