Why Theater and Dance at SIUE?
Because you have the passion, dedication and imagination, and we have knowledge, experience and skills to help you reach your potential. We are dedicated to advancing your education and providing training through classwork, one-on-one mentoring and production/performance learning experiences.
Visit the campus, and spend a day with us. Sit in on a class, and see a production. Meet the faculty, and talk to our students. See if you feel “at home.”
We are confident that you will find the department to be a rigorous, inspiring and inclusive educational environment that will challenge you to develop your practical craft, your creative imagination and your critical thinking skills. And our close proximity to St. Louis will allow you to participate in the vibrant theater and dance scene of a large metropolitan area.
“I would never have guessed that the college closest to where I grew up had the kind of theatre program that would very much shape so much of who I am and what I do today. Each one of the faculty artists opened me up to a new world of possibilities that I never knew existed. One furthered a passion for comedy, one a respect of history and another the wonder of devising theatre. The faculty opened my eyes to the fact that sometimes you have to create your own opportunities.”
- Anna Skidis Vargas, BS ’10 - Artistic Director, Theater Nuevo, St. Louis
