It's Showtime!
The Department of Theater and Dance offers a broad and diverse range of performances every year. The Academic seasons brings to the stage imaginative, high-quality productions of both original and/or significant works drawn from the classic and modern theater and dance repertoires. In addition to five mainstage performances, we annually present the Black Theater Workshop, a summer season (featuring a large-scale popular musical and a Shakespeare play), two student-produced plays, one student-produced dance concert and SIUE Xfest, our fall festival of alternative and experimental theatre featuring artists from across the nation.
“SIUE is a gem when it comes to creating theatrical artists. You’re given the opportunity to try new ideas, as well as learning the building blocks of the industry, all within the comfort of a safe space. The faculty helps you create your own path based on your individual needs and encourages you to be bold, be creative, and be unapologetically your own artist.”
