Professor Jones is a recent addition to the teaching faculty in the Department of Theater and Dance at SIUE, taking on the positions of Assistant Professor and newly appointed Artistic Director for the Black Theatre Workshop (BTW) in the Fall of 2024. For BTW's annual production in the Spring of 2025, she directed *BLOOD AT THE ROOT*, which received the award for 'Best Ensemble' from both current students and faculty.
Professor Jones began her career as a performing artist after earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University. Following her graduation, she performed in Los Angeles for several years before embarking on a performance career at sea with Norwegian Cruise Lines, where she served as a Principal Vocalist and Vocal Captain. She later obtained her Master of Music in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy from Carthage College and taught as an adjunct faculty member in the theater department. As an educator, Professor Jones specializes in voice and multicultural theatre, teaching courses in Voice and Movement, Dialects, Multicultural Theatre and Dance, and coaching musical theater performance styles. Her teaching techniques incorporate elements from the Estill Voice Model, the Skinner method, and Fitzmaurice Voice techniques.
In addition to her work as an educator, Professor Jones has experience as both a director and assistant director throughout her performance career. Her previous directing projects include Fleeing Artists Theatre’s production of *A RAISIN IN THE SUN*, Kith & Kin Theatre Collective's *MUSIC AND A MOVIE: HAIRSPRAY*, and the Black Arts Council of Racine’s production of *PIPELINE*.
An Alton, IL native, Professor Jones is excited to be back in the St. Louis region, where she is teaching and performing once again. In the Fall of 2024, she returned to the stage in the St. Louis Black Rep’s production of *BLUES IN THE NIGHT* and will be returning to the Black Rep stage for their production of *RAISIN: THE MUSICAL* in the Fall of 2025.
