SIUE Dining Services is dedicated to improving the impact we have on the environment as well as providing local sustainability. We continually look for ways to protect our natural resources by implementing informational marketing, researching and selecting products that are reusable, compostable or recyclable while balancing financial impact on the consumer. Dining Services partners with local businesses, farms, dairies and suppliers to help support our surrounding communities.
Examples of our efforts include:
- Providing recyclable fry oil to a local company to be converted into Bio Diesel.
- A ban on Styrofoam disposables
- Encouraging the use of reusable dishes vs. disposables
- The careful selection of eco-friendly disposable products to minimize plastics
