About Dr. Pettibone
Jonathan C. Pettibone received his PhD in Experimental Psychology with a cognate in Quantitative Methods from the University of South Carolina in 2000. He received his B.A. in Psychology from The College of Wooster in 1995. His teaching interests include undergraduate and graduate statistics and research methods, cognitive psychology, and judgment and decision making. His research interests involve the cognitive processes that determine our preferences for consumer and social stimuli. The majority of this work has focused on the influence of context on the construction of preference. These interests have resulted in publications in journals such as the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Acta Psychogica, the Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, and Basic and Applied Social Psychology. In his spare time, Dr. Pettibone enjoys hiking, road biking, and mountain biking.
Mentoring Expertise
Dr. Pettibone has experience mentoring students with a desire to continue with a PhD in experimental, cognitive, or quantitative psychology, as well as students interested in a career in behavioral economics or other behavioral sciences.
