About Dr. Polk
Dr. Maggie Polk is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Dr. Polk’s research interests include exploring adolescent’s and emerging adult’s social media behaviors, as well as their motivations for engagement in those behaviors and the outcomes associated with the behaviors and motivations. In addition, she also studies adolescent popularity, and has started to explore the similarities and differences between online and offline popularity. Dr. Polk’s teaching interests include Lifespan Development, Child and Adolescent Psychology, Psychology of Gender, Social Psychology and Research methods. Maggie enjoys going on walks and runs through Forrest Park with her husband, playing pickleball and cooking/baking at home.

Maggie is available to mentor students interested in adolescent or emerging adult social media behaviors and adolescent peer relations.
