About Dr. Shimizu
Mitsuru Shimizu received his Ph.D. in social/personality psychology from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York in 2009. Before joining SIUE in 2013, he was a postdoctoral research associate at the Cornell Food and Brand Laboratory. He teaches Foundations of Psychology, Research Design and Statistics, Social Psychology, Health Psychology, and Capstone Seminar in Psychology. His research focuses primarily on how the physiological and behavioral processes mediate/moderate the relations between self-evaluation and long-term physical health.

Dr. Shimizu is available to mentor students interested in pursuing graduate degrees in experimental areas of psychology, especially those interested in health behavior.
