Virtual Permits and License Plate Recognition (LPR)
Beginning January 2026, Parking Services will transition from physical permits to virtual permits for parking registration at SIUE. With virtual permits, your license plate is your permit, you no longer need to hang your permit from your rearview mirror. When you purchase your permit, you will just register which vehicle(s) you want to associate with your permit (Employees can associate up to (3) vehicles with their permit, Students can associate (1) vehicle with their permit).
You can update the plate associated with your permit through your Parking Portal (click here for instructions). You may also fill out this form and send it to Parking Services. Once you update your vehicle(s), you no longer need to display your hangtag.
Per earlier messages, daily paid parking is also being updated to LPR using the new pay machines and T2 Mobile Pay.
To aid in this transition, we are asking everyone to complete the following steps:
- Review all vehicles in your Parking Portal, associate relevant vehicles with your permit.
- Add any new vehicles to your account as necessary.
- If you have Specialty Plates issued by a state (ie. B-Truck, Collegiate Series, Sports Series, etc) currently associated with your account, please fill out this form and Parking Services will update your account.
- Parking Services will honor current 2025-26 physical permits through Summer 2026, even if vehicle hasn’t been updated in Parking Portal as long as permit is properly displayed.

Additional EV Charging Stations
Parking Services is pleased to announce the addition of (2) new EV Charging Stations on the Edwardsville Campus. These stations are located in Lot B (west of the MUC) and Lot E (west of Dunham Hall). Each station services 2 spaces, so we now have (6) total EV spaces on the Edwardsville Campus. More information about the EV Charging stations can be found here.
