Express Scripts Drug Information & Wellness Center (DIWC)

The Express Scripts Drug Information and Wellness Center (DIWC), a unit of the Department of Pharmacy Practice in the SIUE School of Pharmacy, is unique in that it serves as a traditional drug information center and provides a wellness component for central and southern Illinois as well. The Center is named in recognition of the Express Scripts Foundation's multi-year support of the SIUE School of Pharmacy.
Mission
To improve the quality of health care through communication, expansion and integration of accurate, complete and unbiased medical information ultimately benefiting health care providers, students, residents, health care professions and the community.
The DIWC is also committed to promoting health education to benefit the community. The faculty in the Express Scripts Drug Information & Wellness Center is dedicated to teaching students in the SIUE School of Pharmacy and conducting research to promote progress in the areas of drug information and pharmacy practice.
Goals
- Provide SIUE preceptors and faculty with comprehensive evidence-based information in a timely manner
- Maintain resources to provide the most current and accurate information
- Produce quality health education to benefit health care professionals and the community
- Educate health care students, residents and professionals about resources and biomedical literature evaluation
- Contribute to the areas of pharmacy practice and drug information through scholarly activities
- To be recognized for excellent service by the drug information community and in pharmacy practice
Drug Information Requests
Faculty at the drug information center respond to requests for drug information only from SIUE pharmacy faculty and preceptors*, and contracted requestors. Requests to the center are accepted Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. central time. The SIUE DIWC observes all University holidays. Drug information requests may be made by contacting the DIWC by phone, fax or email. A voice mail system is in place when the staff are unavailable.
* Preceptors are those who currently accept SIUE School of Pharmacy students on rotations. Contact our Experiential Education Office for more information.
