SIUE Department of Music Scholarships
Students must fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid to be considered for a scholarship.
Financial assistance is awarded to students who are pursuing music major or minor degree programs at SIUE. The following guidelines apply:
- To be eligible to receive a Fine Arts Tuition Waiver or Music Department Talent Award, students must audition for, and be accepted, by the Department of Music. In addition, students must be accepted into the University to receive a financial award from the Department of Music.
- All students auditioning for entrance into the department are considered for financial awards; however, only auditions completed by the final posted audition date will be eligible for scholarship consideration. Auditions occurring after the final posted audition date will be for entrance consideration only and not for scholarship consideration.

Scholarships are an excellent way to help cover the expenses of attending college and are generally a form of a "gift aid" and do not have to be repaid, although some may have certain terms for accepting. Always make sure you read the terms and conditions before accepting a scholarship. Scholarships can be offered by governments, colleges and private, outside sources. Eligibility for scholarships can be based upon financial need, merit, athletics, unique specific criteria or a combination of any listed. Visit Academic Works for a listing of all available scholarships.
Institutional Scholarships — SIUE offers a variety of institutional scholarships to its students to help cover the costs of education. Some require an application, and for some, no application is needed.
Government/Outside Scholarships — These scholarships are awarded from a variety of sources other than the University. The sites below can provide more information on scholarships:
- Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) has several Illinois scholarships available.
- Scholarship Searches are a good way to help find outside scholarships that a student may be eligible to receive. FastWeb, College Board and ISAC/College Zone are helpful sites.
- Students should be aware of scholarship scams. If you want to apply for a scholarship but are not sure whether it is legitimate, visit the Federal Trade Commission website for scholarship scams.
Students with outstanding credentials may be considered for Meridian Scholarships. For more information on these awards, please visit SIUE Financial Aid.
Please note: All males 18 and older must present documented proof of compliance with registration for the Selective Service.
