Orchestra
About the Orchestra
The University Orchestra gives four to five concerts per year, performing a wide range of repertoire from classical to 20th/21st century. Recent highlights include collaborations with violinist Rachel Barton Pine and pianist Awadagin Pratt and performances of Beethoven's 9th Symphony. We also sponsor an annual student Concerto/Aria competition.
Rehearsals
Monday (usually strings only) and Thursday (full orchestra), 7:30-10 p.m.
Auditions
The University Orchestra is open to all qualified students, regardless of major, who pass the audition at the start of the year. String players can access the audition material below and should sign up for an audition time using the Doodle poll link when provided. For woodwind, brass and percussion players, the Wind Symphony audition doubles as the Orchestra audition. Go to [insert URL] for details. Auditions are also available mid-year. Please contact Michael Mishra (link to mmishra@siue.edu) for further information.
