Performance Opportunities
MUS 105—World Music Ensemble
Explore the music of societies and cultures from around the globe. Any student who feels competent on a musical instrument and who would like to play in the ensemble is welcome. Requires consent of director.

MUS 144—Treble Choir
Come join a group of women or those who sing in a treble register featuring outstanding repertoire for treble ensembles. This choir also combines with others for an annual major work with the University Orchestra. This is a low-stress, high-quality ensemble worth thousands of memories. No audition is required.

MUS 222—University Band
A traditional concert band open to all university students who have had high school band experience. No audition is required.

MUS 244—Chorale Union
A blend of students and people from the community. We have fun and make great music. This choir also combines with others for an annual major work with the University Orchestra. No audition is required.

MUS 322—Wind Symphony
An auditioned wind band comprised of our most advanced students. Though the ensemble is comprised of mostly music majors, anyone may audition regardless of major.

Develop your improvisational skills while performing jazz standards and contemporary works for a small group. Audition required.

MUS 342—Musical Theater Ensemble
This course will entail discussion of methods for musical theatre role preparation, character development and related topics such as background literature, musical analysis and psychological development. The singer will also be expected to do an in-depth background study on his or her role(s). Musical Theatre Ensemble is designed to offer training in the performance of assigned repertoire. Assignments are made on the audition, basis of student readiness, shared opportunities and a basic fitness for the repertoire selected. Audition Required.

MUS 433—Concert Jazz Band and Jazz Lab Band
Come play great music from the big-band era to the present day! All university students regardless of major are encouraged to audition for the CJB (sec 001). No audition required for Jazz Lab Band (sec 002)

MUS 444—Concert Chorale
Concert Chorale is our flagship choral ensemble. We prepare and perform music from all periods in their original language and combine with all choirs once a year for a major work with the University Orchestra. No audition is required, but you need to have had some significant choral experiences in the past. Registration by audition.

e-Band
Join your fellow students and perform pep band music that will surely inspire the Cougar basketball teams to victory! Audition required.

Cello Choir
Cello ensemble music of all types. Open to all cellists with at least three years of cello experience.

Fun music for flute players of all levels, with an opportunity to explore unique instruments such as the alto and bass flutes! No audition is required.

Percussion Ensembles
The percussion studio offers a diverse range of ensembles from Calypso and Ragtime music to marching and contemporary percussion. SIUe Steel (steel drum band), SIUe Drumline, and our Percussion Ensemble are the three principal ensembles offered. A Marimba Band is also available. Email the director for enrollment requirements and credit options.
