Financial Assistance for ERTC Students
Students participating in the ERTC Certificate of Completion program are eligible to apply for financial aid administered through the SIUE Office of Student Financial Aid. Students participating in the ERTC Certificate of Completion program are eligible to apply for loans, grants and scholarships to assist with financing their education. Students enrolled in the ERTC one-year program are not eligible for Federal Title IV financial aid.
Loans
ERTC students have the option to pay for their education with alternative loans. The Office of Student Financial Aid can suggest lenders that provide alternative loans that SIUE can certify for the ERTC Program.

Grants
ERTC is also approved for funding through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Illinois Veterans’ Grant (IVG) and other Veteran’s programs. For more information about Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds, students should contact the Workforce Innovation Board (WIB) office in the county where they reside.
Scholarships
- The St. Louis Metropolitan Sewer District ( MSD) ERTC Scholarship - MSD and SIUE have teamed up to create scholarships for the ERTC Water Quality Control Operations Program. MSD is offering minority and female candidates two (2) $10,000 scholarships (plus a $1,000 stipend). MSD's goal is to provide minorities and women opportunities for education, internships, and employment that promote career choices in the wastewater and stormwater treatment plant industry
- The ERTC Legacy Scholarship - $500 Scholarship ($250/semester) for students enrolling in our Water Quality Control Program - Since 1977, ERTC has been training water quality professionals who now work throughout the nation. With the establishment of the Alumni Scholarship, we hope to help future students by easing the financial burden of class fees and tuition.
- American Water Works Association (AWWA) Scholarships - The Illinois Section AWWA will award up to $5,000 in scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year (including summer term 2017). Applicants must be enrolled or accepted into a water-related secondary, continuing-education or enrichment program for the academic year. Secondary education includes water system operator training programs, water-related technical school, community college, four-year college, Masters and Doctoral programs.
