Course Reserves
Who may place items on reserve?
SIUE instructors and administrators.
What types of items are usually placed on reserve?

- Lovejoy Library books
- Book Chapters
- CDs, DVDs, and Video Tapes
- Instructor's or department's copies of books
- Photocopies of journal articles
- Textbooks from SIUE Textbook Services
- Homework, quiz and exam solutions, and lecture notes
Where are print reserve items housed?
When should a request to place items on reserve be made?
To ensure that reserve items are available at the beginning of an academic term, requests should be made four weeks prior to the beginning of the term. You can submit a request here.
Are reserve requests accepted after the deadlines?
How are instructors notified when reserve items are available for use?
What loan periods are available for print reserve items?

- 3 hour (item must be used on floor 1, 2, or 3 of the Library)
- 7 day
What happens if a borrower fails to return print reserve items on time?
Fines are assessed for overdue reserve items. The fine rate is $1.00 per hour or day (depending on the loan period) until the item is returned or to a maximum of $15.00.

I-Share
Who can submit an Interlibrary Loan request via I-Share?
Current SIUE faculty, students, and staff.
When should a request be submitted in I-Share?
Items should be requested when the material is not available at SIUE.
What types of library materials can I borrow through I-Share?
How do I order one or more volumes from a multiple volume set?
It is recommended to request one or more volumes from a set via ILLiad, not I-Share. Please indicate the volumes needed in the request's note field.
How long will it take to receive the material?
I-Share requests usually arrive in 3-5 days. They are transported via ILDS, a state-wide delivery system, that operates Monday - Friday.
How will I know when the item I requested is available?

How long can I keep material borrowed through I-Share?
Loan periods may vary and are determined by the lending library. You will be notified of the due date when you pick up the materials. Most loans are eligible for renewal.
