Faculty Recruitment and Retention
The Office of the Provost strives to ensure that SIUE recruits and retains an excellent and diverse faculty. A diverse faculty enhances the breadth, depth and quality of our academic programs and supports the retention and graduation of more diverse students, thus strengthening and expanding the global workforce. While SIUE has made progress in this area, we still have work to do. Long-term institutional transformation depends on a clear understanding of both our strengths and our areas in need of improvement. Our SIUE mission, vision and values all speak to excellence. An environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and equity, in all its forms, is one means to achieving that excellence.
Toward an Inclusive Model of Excellence (TIME)
Funded by a three-year grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the ADVANCE Program at SIUE, Toward an Inclusive Model of Excellence (TIME), seeks to increase recruitment and hiring of diverse female STEM faculty, increase retention of diverse female STEM faculty by improving departmental climate and support for female faculty, and increase promotion of diverse female STEM faculty by mitigating bias in the tenure and promotion review processes.
