Emergency Preparedness
The general mission of the task force is to prepare for any emergency that may potentially threaten and/or harm our university communities (Edwardsville, East St. Louis, Alton). This could range from severe weather, earthquakes, or active shooters on campus. Your charge is to prepare accordingly by making recommendations on how we achieve this to the greatest extent possible given the resources available.
Scope of Authority
The Chancellor of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville directed the Vice Chancellor for Administration to commission a task force to ensure the safety of our campuses in the event of a significant emergent event. The task force’s authority includes all three campuses.
Tasks to be performed:
- Review current emergency preparedness procedures.
- Survey and identify potential emergency threats that may be addressed within the existing emergency task force budget.
- Draft an emergency response manual.
- Provide recommendations on immediate areas of concern.
- Make recommendations and establish emergency policies and procedures for this area.
