Enforcement
Hours of enforcement are Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. There is open parking in all non-residential lots after those times and all-day Saturday and Sunday. University Police may write citations anytime, however, as they deem necessary. Residential lots are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please note that failure to move a vehicle to an appropriate location after a citation has been issued may result in additional citations being written the same and subsequent days.
Citations issued for parking and registration violations specify the type of violation and the amount due. A late fee of $10 is applied to all citations not paid or appealed within 14 calendar days. Citations issued to non-registered vehicles belonging to an immediate family member of a faculty, staff or student are the responsibility of the student or employee. Payment of parking fines is accepted by mail or online. Remember to include the citation number with your payment if you are paying by mail. Please do not send cash through the mail.
Payment submitted for parking fines or permits may be made by check, cash, Visa, Discover or MasterCard. Loose coin may not exceed $5. Pennies that total $1 or more must be in rolls of $.50 each. Each roll of coins must have printed on it the name and 800 number of the person submitting it for payment.
There is open parking in all lots except the Pay by Space areas during break periods. There is also open parking in the Red and Yellow lots during the first week of each semester.
Towing
Motorists who accumulate four or more citations with an amount past due of $200 or more are marked as a Scofflaw and are subject to having their vehicles towed the next time they are in violation. Employee cases may be reviewed by Human Resources, and student cases fall under the purview of the Dean of Students.
Vehicles illegally parked in spaces for persons with disabilities or in fire (red curbs) or emergency (yellow curbs) lanes, as well as those blocking aisles or creating hazardous traffic situations will be ticketed and towed. In all cases, the driver or owner is liable for payment for towing and storage.
Vehicles that are derelict (i.e., not roadworthy due to either the condition of the vehicle or failure to have current and proper registration as determined by University Police) will be subject to tow from any lot without warning, as will those with concealed vehicle identification numbers.
Miscellaneous
No parking is permitted in the tunnel between Rendleman Hall and the Morris University Center.
Occupied vehicles are permitted to stop along Hairpin Drive in designated areas for the sole purpose of dropping off and/or picking up riders. Parking, even when the vehicle is occupied, is not permitted and will result in a fine being issued, except for individuals with special permits authorizing them to park in the Office of Admissions/Campus Tours section.
Parking Services reserves the right to revoke parking privileges for any violation.
