Meet Dr. Beth Cady
Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Elizabeth A. Cady, PharmD, Clinical Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) School of Pharmacy was celebrated with two awards for her transformative impact on pharmacy education. Last week (April 2025), Dr. Cady was selected for the prestigious SIUE Excellence in Teaching Award—a recognition that underscores her unparalleled commitment to fostering academic excellence, student engagement, and innovative teaching practices. This award, selected through rigorous review by a committee of faculty peers, is given to one faculty member from across campus each year. “Even while teaching high school Chemistry, and especially during pharmacy school, I dreamed about a career where I could integrate my love of teaching and passion for health care. I’m doing exactly what I sought to do over 15 years ago and to be recognized for the impact I’m making on our future pharmacists is something for which I am incredibly grateful. For that recognition to come from SIUE, an institution that highly values teaching, is especially rewarding.”
Since joining SIUE in 2017, Dr. Cady has consistently demonstrated her dedication to shaping the next generation of pharmacists. Her ability to create dynamic, real-world learning environments has earned her a reputation as a trailblazer in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy education and a trusted mentor to her students and colleagues alike. It is not a surprise then that Dr. Cady was also given the SIUE School of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award the very same day. This award is selected by students, which demonstrates her ability to connect with learners and produce meaningful learning and value.

Her clinical acumen was further honed through residency training at the University of Kentucky HealthCare followed by her tenure as a Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Louisiana Monroe.
