Updating Your Contact Information
All J-1 scholars are required to report and maintain a local U.S. address within 10 days of any address change. This address must be your local U.S. residential address, with apartment number (if you live in an apartment). Campus departmental addresses, P.O. boxes, and foreign addresses are not acceptable addresses for immigration purposes. Scholars who fail to report this information violate their J-1 status and may endanger their future benefits or opportunities in the United States.
SIUE Employees:
Report or update your address, phone number, or email address through CougarNet (instructions are available here). The SIUE Office of International Affairs will update this information electronically through SEVIS.
Non-SIUE Employees:
Report to your international advisor by email (iss@siue.edu) within 10 days any changes to the following information:
- Your contact information (name, address, phone, email)
- Contact information for your dependents
The information you update will be stored in the SIUE Office of International Affairs and is used for reporting to SEVIS as mandated by federal regulations. Scholars who fail to report this information violate their J-1 status and may endanger their future benefits or opportunities in the United States.
